This project seems very interesting and I am certainly going to build it and play with it as soon as I have time. But I am am also very interested in the so-called Tayloe detctor, that Gerald Youngblood presented in his QEX articles in 2002/2003 (Software defined radio for the masses). This detector is similar to a commutating filter and would use a 1-to-4 switch (eg FST3253) instead of the 74HC4066 switches. The rest of the circuitry would be similar to your SDR. The benefit of the Tayloe detector seems to be that it gives a better conversion gain(?).
Have you considered this detector when designing the SDR? What were your reasons for choosing the current Weaver method instead of the Tayloe? Are there obvious drawbacks to this detector?

The Flex Radio Articles in QEX gave rise to Gerald Youngblood's SDR1000 Transceiver which uses the Tayloe detector. The 4 articles which make up the QEX series on the SDR1000 don't seem to be available to download from Flex-Radio.com anymore. The Tayloe detector looks like a rediscovery of the Commutating Detector.
