I am happy to report that my SDR is now working as it should and am having much fun using it.

I stepped away from the SDR project for a few days and returned with fresh eyes. My troubleshooting found a very fine unetched bridge from IC1 pin 2 to GND and an unsoldered via on IC5 pin 11 to GND. My homebrew pcb without plated-through holes offered a challenging build experience.

Again, thank you to the designers for an excellent project!

Regards,
Mike

Finally got around to photographing my homebrew Elektor SDR.
You may notice the crystal is not present in the photos, because
it is mounted to the underside of the pcb.

. Good afternoon!

I ask to give figure of installation of radioelements on PCB. Instead of microcircuit CY27EE16 application CY27EE16ZEC-ES or CY27EE16FZEC or CY27EE16FZXEC or CY27EE16ZE is possible?

Has anyone developed any advanced front-end filtering (bandpass) for the Elektor SDR? Similarly, has anyone integrated the Elektor 'Automatic Preselector', which was designed to work with the Elektor DRM receiver VFO, with the Elektor SDR or similar preselector to track the PLL of the SDR and tune the front-end of the receiver?

My problem still to get a proper soundcard. I have built the test circuit, and tested some cards with poor results.
It would be good to set up a list with suitable and not suitable soundcards which have already been tested for SDR purpose.

Actually I need an USB card, as I have to use it with a laptop.

Please advise.

Thanks,
Miki

Hai,
Please see the magaine button, reach 2007-may issue and select sdr article. On the new page you will find link to software zip file 070039-11.zip

As you extract the zip, you get Initcal.bin wanted file.

All the best.

Just a note to anyone coming to this project which might just save them some time. At first I couldn't get any output. Everything seemed to work just fine, the FT232 driver installed and InitCal.bin appeared to upload. The 10MHz reference was working but I had no clock signal and so no output.

The problem was that I already had a clash with another device connected to the computer, a Winkeyer USB, that also uses the FT232R. CDM-Setup was uploading the driver to the FT232 in the Winkeyer and not seeing the Elektor SDR. Disconnecting the Winkeyer allowed the FT232 in the Elektor to install OK and the receiver works.
