Hi,

the elektor internet radio kit includes a female SUBD, but pins 2/3 are crossed, so that a null-modem cable is needed. these cables usually come with two female plugs, so that an additional gender changer is necessary.

is this an error, or done in purpose?

Thanks for notifying us by private email. Otherwise even more kits would have been shipped with the wrong connector.

It is still mysterious, why nobody recognized this earlier. Even in the video the wrong part was mounted.

The problem and possible fixes are explained at

Removing an already soldered DB9 connector is quite difficult. Better make a special cable (see attached schematic) or send the board to egnite for replacing the connector, free of charge, of course.
