PLUS subscribers will receive the Elektor 2007 annual CD-ROM with their March 2008 magazine.

For everyone not on Subscription-PLUS, sales of the CD will commence during week 9-- pricing and ordering information will be published in the Elektor Shop 'CD-ROMs' section.

Dear Mr. Buiting,

There was an article once explaining how to combine several years CD's together to search more magazines at once. Can you please refer me to that article or explain how it can be done.

Also I propose a search system that can find any article in the past number of years. As a lecturer i frequently use articles by Elektor, to explain and present concepts and projects and such a search system would help a lot in my work.

Thanks

Joseph

hi Joseph

The article on page 69 in the March 2008 issue has information on how to install previous year volume CDs on a hard disk.

The CD 2007 search engine will do an article title search across all volumes installed, and full text search across articles in year volume 2007.

A CD ROM is too small to hold the current database, so next year we'll probably publish a DVD to enable full text search across all available year volume files.

regards,
Jan

Hi,
An index created with Adobe Professional for all the (English) articles from 2001 to 2007 is only 133 MB, and allows a fairly comprehensive keyword search of all the the text in all the articles. I had to find a friend with Adobe Professional, but perhaps you could create and provide for download such an index for people who don't have such a friend!
Regards, Tom.
