microtecI have bought the Profiler back in the start of February. Franklin Industries NV promised delivery "beginning of March".
Now we are in the end of June and I still haven’t received the Profiler I paid back in February
If you don't mind me asking, what area of order number are you?

What's the current excuse From Colinbus?
High demand for steel in the world market
--------------- SNIP ---------------
Dear Sir, Madam,
a while ago we advised of the unexpected and overwhelming interest in the Profiler milling machine. To this should be added that owing to the high demand for steel in the world market, the manufacturer is unable to obtain sufficient raw materials for the kits on order. Consequently, it is not possible to produce and supply Profiler kits in the desired production volumes.
As you probably know, Profiler kits are being supplied at the moment. The process is organised by date of order confirmed. Since your order was not among the first 600 confirmed, your kit will unfortunately be supplied later than planned. We expect to be able to ship during June / July 2007. As a matter of course, we extend our sincere apologies and are grateful form your patience and understanding of the current situation.
--------------- SNIP ---------------
- I have ordered and paid my Profiler milling machine 2.February 2007. Delivery “beginning of March”.
- 2. March 2007 I recive a mail telling “Colinbus/Franklin Industries expect to start shipping Profiler kits by week 10 (5-10 March 2007)”
- 8. March 2007 I recive a mail telling “Delivery delay at present is between 8 – 10 weeks.”
- 10. May 2007 I recive a mail telling “We expect to be able to ship during June / July 2007”

I am wanting to buy one of these things but I think I'll wait until they have their supply problems sorted out. I just hope that this unexpected interest makes them feel its worth continuing the kit and one of those silly counter-intuitive accounting things doesn't make them think it would be better for them to cease production.

Bartman, does the cute little piggy on the top right of your picture represent a porkie pie then? Surely not, he looks so innocent & happy...
Elektor were selling us back in December with their "r e v i e w" of the profiler. Strange they didn't find any problems with their "r e v i e w" of it then. (See all subsequent postings)
Errmm... and what's happened to the promised profiler articles? All gone so curiously quiet you busy busy Elektor people!?
Planet Elektor readership Earth calling current incumbent Editor Jan... and your very non posting profiler review team...
Bartman has Piggies here flying.. I'm rallying around this flag - so let's hear from you...

I'm REF 686 and also still waiting, if it was easy to get my
money back I would.
I was quoted 8 weeks lead time at the end of Jan, clearly
that was never ever going to happen, and no company
IMO should ever ask for payment up front unless they
can reasonably deliver on what they quote.
Regards,
Darren

Why is it difficult to get your money back?
You are well within your rights to cancel the order due to delays in delivery. It's called non-performance by the supplier(Colinbus). The fact that the supplier(Colinbus) has problems with his suppliers is not your problem.
To give you a large example, Airbus Industries keep having to delay delivery dates on their planes due to their incompetence. The clients duly cancel their orders and go to Boeing.
In your case you cancel the order and go to, say, LPKF or Roland.

An esteemed colleague has proffered an excellent piece of advice regarding this issue as follows...
"If, say, half the existing people with orders were to cancel, then the remaining half would benefit from the ease in demand on man hours and materials at Colinbus, thereby speeding up delivery times and gaining a greater customer satisfaction from the remaining customers"
We could then all look forward to lots of happy posters in this forum cascading each other with a deluge of words and pictures as their projects roll off the Colinbus Profiler this side of Christmas 2007!
I would gladly, and stoically, put myself forward as the first volunteer, in a gesture of goodwill to my fellow Elektor readers.
Unfortunately, I have already had delivery of my Profiler...sigh!

"Unfortunately"?
Please explain.
Why are you so interested in the supply situation if you already have received your Profiler?

"If, say, half the existing people with orders were to cancel, then the remaining half would benefit from the ease in demand on man hours and materials at Colinbus, thereby speeding up delivery times and gaining a greater customer satisfaction from the remaining customers"
Capital advice & sound reasoning. Offer that man a job immediately.
May I also add that it would enormously benefit Colinbus's wellbeing if a mass of people were to suddenly cancel their orders as the pressure on Colinbus to deliver would then be somewhat diminished which in itself can only be a good thing?
Perhaps more importantly, this would go some way to imperceptibly easing the very serious world steel shortage (which I find very troubling) I think you would have to agree this could only be a good thing too?
The only downside with there being fewer Profiler customers may be that our current editor Jan, may no longer feel quite so obligated to provide the missing profiler articles, since the intended target audience for these wonderful articles would have slightly diminished.
A complex situation with many ramifications..

Source: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4041031.stm
"Steel prices have been rising due to tight raw-material supplies and a surge in demand from the Chinese economy.
Shares in Nissan closed down 0.37% at 1,082 yen on Thursday, while Nippon Steel shares were up 2.49% to 247 yen and shares in fellow steelmaker JFE Holdings added 4.18% to 2,865 yen."
The Chinese economy? Huh! little do those so called "experts" know it's really down to all those profilers on order..

Why do you ask another question instead of answering my two questions?
I already told you I have not received my Profiler in the begin of this string. I have been waiting since begin of February.
1. Why have you "Unfortunately” had delivery of your Profiler?
2. Why are you so interested in the supply situation if you already have received your Profiler?
