What are your experiences of Franklin industries regarding deliver the profiler? Is the profiler worth waiting for?

I have bought the Profiler back in the start of February. Franklin Industries NV promised delivery "beginning of March".
Now we are in the end of June and I still haven’t received the Profiler I paid back in February

I can not recommend anyone to buy the Profiler from Franklin Industries NV. At leas do not pay in advance (“Cash on Delivery” is not possible to Denmark).

If I may add, their "after sales service" sucks big time.

See my posting under the "Sweden" thread on this forum.

I can't yet comment on the software front as I haven't got to the stage of using it due to the mechanical parts problems mentioned elsewhere, but, from what other people have posted of their own experiences it does not look good.

I ordered my profiler at the very beginning of January, and get it end of April (number 463) in France.
But I was in the 600 first orders...
Note that except few missing parts (sent a bit later by postal mail) the delivery was perfect (UPS).

I would add that Colinbus support was correct, just a bit (!) overloaded...

Christophe

Hi everyone,

I ordered my profiler (ref 740) last Feburary (2007) and recieved it last July (2007).

The experience I've had with it so far to be honest hasn't been what I expected. When I had received the kit, the eccentric wheel was missing (for the Y axis) which Franklin Industries (to thier credit) sent straight away and managed to build my Profiler.

When I had downloaded the "updated" versions of Colliliner and Colidrive there seemed to be more bugs in Colidrive 2.2.0.24 than there were in Colidrive 2.2.0.19 (eg. controller crashing during a CNC job). That I found very annoying, I had to use Colidrive 2.2.0.19 (with 2.2.0.24 installed) for CNC jobs. The Colidrive software was not very intuitive either (I had to re-read the PCB guide to understand the Colidrive software properly).

I have only done very little work with it (I engraved three brass plaques and tried to mill a PCB) and the controller has given up on me last week (I think it was on Thursday 20th March 2008) and sent it last Wendesday (26th March 2008). Basically it doesn't even do the axis homing routine, let alone talk to any PC !!!

Franklin Industries had adknowledged that they had recieved the controller box and it would take longer to repair since the bloke who fixes them is on holiday at the moment. I just hope to have it fixed soon so that I can start using it again.

In short my experience with my profiler hasn't been a happy one.
