An 8-minute (approx.) video film showing the Elektor Profiler milling machine producing a small printed circuit board is now online on this website at

http://www.elektor-electronics.co.uk/Default.aspx?tabid=141

The video shows a printed circuit board being produced using Profiler in the out of the box configuration, that is, with the low-cost Ferm tool secured to the bridge. The production covers six steps: 1. PCB fixation; 2. Milling large holes; 3. Drilling small holes; 4. Drilling large holes; 5. Milling tracks; 6. Milling the PCB free.
Video to be completed with screenshots a.s.a.p. so visit the page again in a few days.

The video seems to be published in some Windows-only format, as neither my Mac or my Linux machine would show it. Would it be possible to have the video also available in an open format, so us non-Windows users also can view it?
Thanks in advance.

It's a Windows Media Player file, so it's possible to play it at least in Linux. VLC will probably play it. I can test later today. I found the address for the file by looking in the source.

I have transcoded it to an MP4 file which will work with apples and should play on linux. If the people at elektor don't mind I will post it for your viewing pleasure.

Is that OK or a total breach or copyright? (I would email to check but I don't know what address to send to)?

Right. Here it is, the mac transcode of the profiler video. This is a direct transcode so is about 36Mb (I have hosted it on my rather unused web space so there should be no bandwidth problems)

with a modicum of luck it should work. please let me know if it doesn't

And that was all that was needed for me to be able to watch it; thank you very much.
