Bonjour,

The people that have read the topic "Inside the profiler" may have discovered that a local control console may be connected to the Profiler.

I am building a such console, that will have :
- the 20*4 LCD display
- the 12 buttons keyboard
- the 2 buttons for emergency stop (Pause and Halt)
- the 3 ststus leds
- one switch to enable a simplified Z zero detection.
All will be disposed approximately as below, and will be fixed at the front of the profiler.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
LCD|.ledInfo..ledMode..ledErr............................switch Z.
LCD|......Y+.......Z+.....Home.......Mem Home...................
LCD|..X+... X-............HomeZ.....BrocheOn/off....PAUSE...
LCD|......Y-........Z-......Mode........(réservé)..........HALT....
-------------------------------------------------------------------

The LCD will be a module 147x62 or 98x60 mm² module (120x40 ou 70x20 active area) depending of the cost (I'm waiting for manufacturer prices).
I plan to ask a manufacturer for the mechanical parts (sheet-iron works ? thanks to Babelfish !) if a sufficient amount of people are interested in order to obtain an accessible price.

If you want to build a such console and are interested, thank you to post here AND by private email, so I can have an idea of the required part count (that will enable a lower cost) and to tell you what happens.

All new ideas will also be welcome !

Best regards
Pascal

Hi Pascal
Thank you for this Topic. In fact I'm on the way to change my controller Board to the one that Benny Croonen has devlopped..So I guess I can't use then your remote Control?

Otherwise I'm very interested!
best regards Lukacs

PS: here a link for a remote control for G-code

Hi,

Thanks to your posts.

I still have not received the prices and I am still consulting for the mechanical parts. I will post here the prices I will find as soon as received, but I seems I have to call the manufacturers again

We will be around 10 people interested, I asked for that number for the quotations. [For people that would be interested later, please note that I am not a shop nor a salesman, and that I am making a kit only because I want one. I will not renewed it even on many requests !]

I will be on move the next week, so dont be afraid if nothing is comming from me.

Hello Pascal,

will be your console usable with the processor board plugged or only alone?

Hi all folks

Due to a lot of work from start of may, I have had to suspend my works on customising my Profiler, but I hope to be back at end of august, between holidays and hard work returns.

From my reaserches, It seems the display + metal sheet will cost respectively less than 20 and 15 € (for around 10 parts each).

To papy-momo : Yes, It is usable with the processor board installed and working. It can be wired by two methods :

1) Solder all needed wire under the large main board, that have all the pins connected to the UC board but not wired on output connectors.

2) Add some straight "he10" pins upside of the UC board, enabling to plug flat wires connectors directely upon the UC board when it is plugged on the main board.

The first is "cleaner" but needs to remove all the boards, and of course to add some connectors to the box since the wires are solded under the power board.
The second look like less clean, but enable to plug and unplug all wires from the mounted boards.

I think the two methods involve solder on the boards, so they will brake warranty. Use the one you prefers under your own responsability !

You will find attached a (not very good) picture of my UC board.

I found - very lately- a third solution to connect the console to the UC board without soldering anything on the PCBs : the heigh of the box enable to insert a third board between the UC board and the main board.
That board would have all pins connection on bottom to the main board and on top to the UC board, and that would drive on some edge connectors all the wire we may want tu use...
